GENEALOGY RESEARCH: BASIC SKILLS

The Genealogy Basic Fundamentals Course will be held Sept 8, 22, Oct 6, 20th, 10 am to noon, at the library. Open enrollment starts August 1st and class size is limited - so be sure to sign up online on the library website!
This course is a series, one class building on the previous, so please understand you sign up for all four classes in the series.
The Basics class will be a bit different than the last class with more time to work on each element and individual assistance in class.The goal of this class is to teach attendees the genealogy research process - from your filing system, elements of documentation, proving your findings, and writing research plans ....as well as where and how to find the data resources about your family.

GENEALOGY INTERMEDIATE CLASS: RESEARCH TOOLS AND METHODS
Instructor: Mary Lohr, SCGS Librarian and Website Manager
Note: This class is for those who have taken the Basic Skills class and/or are experienced researchers.
This class will focus on methods and techniques for genealogy research. Emphasis on using resources to locate and evaluate information. Strategies will include using both traditional and online tools.
Classes: September 14th and 28th, October 12th and 26nd (all Thursdays, 10am to noon at the Ames Public Library).
